We suggest that you do not make so many rooms and have it more open.

What are some colors that your group is going to use for the interior design?

I like your group's idea of having a lot of windows and making the library feel spacious and open.

The windows face towards the south and usually do not get direct sunlight until midday. The group is planning to add in a few deciduous trees and shrubs around the south and west sides. These plants could then help block solar heat during the summer, to keep the building a few degrees cooler. Then, during the winter when they lose all of their leaves, the sunlight can shine through, keeping the building a few degrees warmer. Also, for the garden's patio, we are going to be using an adjustable patio cover, like from Solara. This will allow natural light into the patio, along with shade. When it is raining or is too hot, then the cover can be closed.

Thank you! We really are trying to create a space that will have a general positive consensus across the board (students and staff at Mira Loma to the community).

Sorry about those measurements, they were just for the purpose of the sketch. We have our scaled model measurements on a 1/4" = 1'. The measurements, though, are for our final design that is different than this sketch. We will post these new designs and measurements within the next couple of days for you.

It'd be great to see more views of this as well as some height dimensions. Try setting up some views from inside the space (human's eye view).

It looks like you're thinking thoroughly about how to solve the problems of you library. Good job!

Nice concept drawing! Have you thought about what kind of energy needs the building will have if too much sunlight enters those windows? Remember: "green" products don't necessarily mean a "green" building!

Hooray for more sketches! The dimensions off to the side are a little confusing, though. I doubt your building is actually 3 inches by 4 inches (Zoolander: "How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read... if they can't even fit inside the building?"). Can you translate those paper dimensions into full-scale? Architects typically use scales to represent their drawings on paper. For example larger buildings drawn at a scale of 1/8" = 1'-0" can fit nicely on a 30" x 42" paper. For 8.5" x 11" paper, you might have to go with a smaller scale like 1/32" = 1'-0".
