High School Library Redesign

This sketch shows my original idea for a multipurpose auxiliary room. Using different combinations of rolling tables and chairs, this space can be converted from a presentation room to a computer lab or a group work classroom. The rolling tables would have drawers containing a keyboard dock and a tablet (compatible with Windows 8) - these would replace the aging Macs in the current lab, while enabling students to learn another interface. The tables would plug into power outlets on the ground in order to charge the tablets from their docking stations. Tablets and docks would be stowed when not in use, to remove distractions. A projector and pull-down screen would enable presentations to run once the tables are pushed off to the side and the chairs arranged in rows. This idea proved hard to implement, and it was changed through the design process, but it provided the base for developing more practical solutions.
