Bridging the Gap: Redesigning High Tech High School's Athletic Pavilion

03/13/14
This is an updated bubble diagram for my space. Unlike my initial bubble diagram, this one has a more fluid design, which I accredit to a more architecturally pronounced floor plan that makes better use of the space through its spatial grid organization. It also adds more space for bathrooms as well as health classrooms. I find that this design will evocatively bring forth greater aesthetic pleasure as well as functionality.

I like the flow of the spaces! Try organizing the three main bubbles according to site conditions...your organization of spaces may change or make more sense or maybe more desirable to the users. If you think you know your program very well, I would make a bubble diagram to scale so you get a sense of the spaces. It also makes things a bit easier.

Thank you for the advice! I decided that putting the racquetball/badminton court to the left of the basketball court to keep it away from the street. Having the weight room right above that allows for the sloped roof I have in mind (will upload soon) and provides views of forestry. I will consider design aesthetics of the swimming pool to make it feel secluded without having to move it somewhere else. I'll begin working on a scaled, final bubble diagram soon!

Excellent!

I'm glad to see the evolution of your diagram.
I am hoping that the translation of this to a floor plan will not be so literal.......
Give yourself flexibility to always re-interpret the diagram as it becomes more real.
