Advanced Technologies Academy: Proposed New Athletic Pavilion

Low-E Glass & Vegetative Roof Details - Taking advantage of numerous "green architecture" techniques, A-TECH's new pavilion will use low emissive glass (pictured to the left) that allows light into the structure while reducing heating loads by keeping the heat on the adjacent side of its generator. Similarly, the vegetative roof (see "Gymnasium South Elevation" conceptual sketch under the "Brainstorm Ideas" tab) plays a significant role in reducing the roof's overall heat absorption, namely in the harsh afternoon hours from 12 PM - 4 PM. Aside from contributing to lower heating loads on interior spaces, the Indian Rice Grass on the roof provides for excellent storm weather retention and an increased lifespan for the roof's underlying materials.
