Bridging the Gap: Redesigning High Tech High School's Athletic Pavilion

04/28/14
This is the floor plan for the second floor of my structure. Once again, I've labeled some focus areas to explain here: (4) This is a walkway to the main building. As it approaches the rooftop sculpture garden, it splits into two separate breezeways that hug the perimeter. This helps curb traffic and establish safe and attractive boundaries for the garden. (5) The sculpture garden will serve as an oasis. The centerpiece of the garden is a fountain that resembles a tree when in operation. There will also be picnic tables for lounging, green space for yoga classes, and intriguing sculptures spread throughout. (6) The open space above the basketball court provides prime viewing capabilities of games from the catwalks. The wall dividing the court and the vestibule will not reach the ceiling, instead creating a half-wall that distributes light and heating/cooling. (7) The catwalks stand above the spaces outlined in the third floor up until they converge in a central hallway that flows into the rest of the facilities on the second floor.
