Pocket Park
05/19/15
Paley Park is a pocket park located at 3 East 53rd Street in Midtown Manhattan on the former site of the Stork Club. It is designed by the landscape architectural firm of Zion & Breen, and opened May 23, 1967.
An interesting display within the park, are the Berlin Wall Remnants along the side of the walls. Five sections of the Berlin Wall, in total measuring 12 feet high and 20 feet long, have been on display here since 1990. At first glance, this artifact appears to be just another public mural; it goes largely unnoticed by the office workers who sit in the park on their lunch break. Unfortunately, in September 2014, the remnants were removed for restoration. The park also has a water wall at the back wall.
