Architect Seven: A Re-design of Mira Loma High School’s Cafeteria

Summary

In order for our team to please our client, we had to pay a visit to Mira Loma High School’s cafeteria. Inside the cafeteria, we were able to collect accurate information that will help us modify the building.

• Measurements of current space: 22 m x 48 m

• Measurements of the kitchen only: 7 m x 11 m

• Current space capacity: 535 people

• Current uses of the space: The cafeteria is used as a place for students to eat their lunch at. It has a built in kitchen for the cooks to prepare food for the students. The cafeteria is also used as a storage room for trash cans and dining tables.

• Current limitations of the space: Dysfunctional air conditioning system, limited kitchen space as well as necessary equipments, and lack of storage area.

• Community use of the space: Mira Loma’s cafeteria is sometimes used for meetings and formal dances. It is also used by most of the sport departments for after school practices.

• Specific client requests: Our client asked our team to provide a larger kitchen area for the kitchen staff, a functioning air conditioning system, new technological equipments, and a more modern layout of the seating area.
