Architect Seven: A Re-design of Mira Loma High School’s Cafeteria
Mira Loma's cafeteria has two main doors and two back doors.
On the top left hand corner is the first main door that most students use. On the top right corner is the second main exit/entrance that students also use. On the bottom left corner is a picture of one of the back doors that students mostly use to exit the cafeteria. Finally, on the bottom right corner is a picture of the final door in the cafeteria which is only used by the kitchen staff (unless there is an emergency.)

Egress or exit doors are very important! I would try to do an analysis of the accessibility in and around the cafeteria based on Universal Design and ADA.

Leslie, We would like to know how tall do you think our building should stand?
I would suggest, as tall as a 2 story building ~24 feet. But the height really needs to be up to what you and your peers experience versus the experiences you and your peers have in your cafeteria right now. What do you and your peers feel when they go into the cafeteria? It could be 12, 24 ft or 48 ft, or at different heights (kind of separating the programmatic needs of the space from the exterior. Height can be determined by it's use: food service, dining, concerts, dances, etc. What do you want to evoke in this space? I hope this helps!

What do you mean by food service? Like, when the students get in line to get food? Or when food is delivered to the school?
Yes! That's it. Think about everything about food service especially the flow of how to get the food into the cafeteria to the servers serving the food and how it's stored and how the students will receive their food. Also think about waste! Are you going to recycle almost everything? Where is the leftover food going to? Compost waste? There's lots to think about but your concept will help you edit.
