This section of the library helps to illustrate how sustainability can hopefully be integrated into it. Through the use custom-built curtain walls and sun shades, the sun's rays will provide natural lighting without exposing students to the relentless Vegas heat. The library's addition of a second floor was purposefully thought out to ease the rise of warm air through openings and exhaust it out to the environment through the ceiling crevices. This helps reduce the cost of air conditioning and renews and fresh and clear air to students. Also, the same ceiling crevices will provide lighting all throughout the the second floor without necessity of being adjacent to a facade. This is done, though, without direct sun exposure.
