2013 national competition project | Library Redesign #093

05/14/13
Here are two possible seating options, one previously detailed in the last step. Note the circular partitions on the left. These partitions, which could be used as shelving units for books, help to separate the study area within. This partition helps to create a private workspace for small groups. The low height of the walls also allows for sufficient supervision on the librarian's part. The placement of shelves along the walls of the central part of the library helps to eliminate the need for large shelves in the center of the space, creating obstacles to impede traffic flow. Keeping shelves out of the way helps to open up the space and increase movement in and out of the library.
