Architect Seven: A Re-design of Mira Loma High School’s Cafeteria
This is our second floor. It has both inside and outside seating for the students to choose from. The tables are various in shapes as well as sizes. The tables are easily moved and can be stored in the storage room located both upstairs and downstairs. I decided to use colors as a classy way of encouraging school spirit. Both red and blue combined are found to be very pleasing to the eye. I added a lot of glass walls so that the students can enjoy their lunch with a great view of nature and the outside. The big round red and blue circle in the middle is made out of glass and is put there to allow sunlight to enter the building through the second floor.

What will the extra space be used for? Any landscape incorporated into this design? I really like the color used and the size of the cafeteria.

we will be putting landscaping inside of the cafeteria shortly and extra space is there for free space so students can move around freely.

Do you plan on storing all of those tables in the storage room every day? That could be a very tedious daily chore for the lunch ladies
No, we plan on storing them only when the space is needed for meetings or other events.

I really love the way you guys have the school colors, and also the seating outside and the tables with the umbrellas. Everything looks very clean and organized.

Thank you. The reason I used seating with umbrellas is to offer the students protection from the sun on extremely hot days.

I love the school spirit! However, do you have anything covering the outside patio in case of rain? If not, do you plan to install a drainage system in order to filter the water out to prevent floods on the patio in the cases of rainy weather?
