We used automatic doors to make the flow of traffic steady. The doors will not be crowded and people can easily walk in and out without worrying about others on either side. This will make it easier to go in and out of the cafeteria.

Jed Hughes, Director of Landscaping- Where do you plan on incorporating the landscape aspect? Are there going to be shrubbery outside, or will you do an entire area of your space devoted to landscape? you could have a space behind the kitchen where you grow vegetables for fresher salads etc.

The roof of the cafeteria is where we plan to host the community garden, the placement of the garden will draw people inside the cafeteria and offers the most space without intruding on other aspects of Mira Loma. Landscaping will be all around the cafeteria, as well. Flowers, shrubs, trees, and the fruits and vegetables of the garden. Thanks for your questions and suggestion.

The automatic doors is a modern twist to the cafeteria, but what if they break will it be possible to open them like normal doors?

I like the idea of automatic doors, it would make it more handicap accessible as well as easier for the elderly to get in and out quicker without much hassle.

I like the idea of the modern doors but it seems dry and robotic could plants help liven it up?

Rimma, Yes we will be having a botton to push the doors open also, incase they break ect.
Danielle, Thank you for your compliment.
Richard, We are putting plants around the building. So it wont look to dry and robotic.

the automatic doors are a good solution for a busy entry/exit. since your school is in california - it seems like you would have a lot of opportunity to open your cafeteria to the exterior. are there other places in your design where you could have operable windows or large doors that opened up to connect interior to exterior spaces?

Would it be possible for your team to post a picture of your overall building? I think it would be nice to see your overall design of the cafeteria.

Thank you for bringing up important points. We have operable windows in the kitchen so the workers can open them for fresh air. I will talk to the rest of my group about having more operable windows and doors in the actual cafeteria.

We will be posting more pictures shortly which will show the overall building from different angles
