Blanket Flower Park
|After an extensive day in the office, a dose of sunshine is overdue. Barren areas are a waste in a city invigorated by constant movement. There are a few neighborhoods close by and the community would benefit from having a place to be able to just come and enjoy a cup of coffee or a book – in general, escape the complexities of everyday life. In order for this to be possible the lot will be transformed into a pocket park, which incorporates desert landscape, shelter from the overzealous sun, and a place to unwind. Blanket Flower Park features an explosion of colors. The addition of a touch of greenery and desert-friendly trees as well as easily accessible paths and patio areas would create an oasis in the Mojave. Seeking to transform the area also means taking strides to understand the area’s demographic and environmental influences. The park will take into consideration that Las Vegas is a desert, and in order to remain sustainable as well as having a low ecological footprint, the park will reinforce the idea of reusable elements. As the population in the area consists multiple businesses, specifically law firms, as well as residential areas, the objective is to facilitate an area for all, including serene areas as well as an area to talk about one's day over lunch.

This is a good design for a pocket park. Many people can benefit from having this there rather than a dirt lot, you're right. I can see many people coming together to socialize here. Also, great presentation of your work! It was easy to understand what you've visualized for the park, and it's a great park.
